The 4th quarter of the year has begun and we get to reflect on all the new software enhancements built by our HIA development team in the last quarter. The team has rolled out multiple new capabilities for the platform as well as enhanced existing integrations.
Newly built features include streamlined manual imports for BankConnect (when auto-import is not available), new market segmentation data available from the HotelKey integration, an exciting new dynamic naming capability for exports, and more! Here is the rundown of recent Q3 2025 enhancements built to improve your HIA user experience:
General Platform Enhancements
Mid-Year System Upgrade Completed
The system update initiated in Q2 was gradually rolled out to all instances and completed in Q3. This upgrade offers enhanced security and more granular user role access to further protect pages within the following modules: Daily Report, Bank Connect, Business Intelligence, and Payroll.
Added New Vendor (NetSuite) to the History Import Tool
HIA’s proprietary history import tool enables users to retain prior years’ financial history as they either onboard to HIA or grow their portfolios with new managed properties. The custom developed tool includes GL level of detail so no data is lost when switching accounting systems. The history import tool already accommodates data formats from many other accounting software vendors and general ERP software. This list of mapped vendor partners has now been expanded to include NetSuite. For more on HIA’s custom-built migration tools, read this blog on Migrating Historical Data.
New HIA Logo Deployed
All instances now show HIA’s rebranded logo, updating it from the prior corporate Hotel Investor Apps, Inc. logo.
New Precautionary Pop-Up to Prevent Accidental PMS Mapping Deletion
The PMS Mapping page has an option to delete mapping that some users had been selecting accidentally and then needing help to restore. We have now added a new cautionary pop-up message plus action step of a required checkbox, so users can reconsider if deleting a PMS Mapping is really needed. If so, users can confirm with the checkbox and proceed with deletion.
File Exports – New Dynamic Naming per Your Rules
When exporting files from HIA for use in another software via FTP, the exported file has previously automatically received a standard name such as “Balance.xml.” This has meant that before uploading the file to another software/FTP, users have had to manually rename the file to correctly identify it later. Users pointed out that this was a time-consuming and redundant task.
To address this issue, HIA has built a new Dynamic Naming capability so users can get individually named exports without any human intervention.
This new feature is located in the Integration module, on the new page “Integration Preferences.” Here users can set up their own dynamic naming conventions for FTP exports with a prefix, middle, and suffix, drawing in dynamic information such as the date and export type. For example, “Balance_10-01-2025_filename.csv.” This new set-it-and-forget-it rule ensures your exports get the right individualized name every time automatically.
Integration Enhancements
Bank Connect – Reduced Steps for Manual Imports
While HIA automates the importing of bank transactions in the majority of all cases, via our partnerships with the vast Plaid and MX banking networks (13,000+ institutions and growing), there are some banks that do not participate in these networks, or whose connection is not ideal.
In those instances, HIA has manual import options for bank transactions. In the past, the process often required a step where users manually entered a charset field into the source file to identify it correctly before the file could be uploaded.
To bypass this step, HIA has developed an enhancement where users can pre-set a default charset value in the system, so if HIA’s software identifies that the charset value is not present in the source file, it will automatically apply the default value. This creates a direct upload without any manual adjustment required. This new default charset capability can be found under preferences in the “Import Bank Transactions Settings.”
HotelKey Integration – New market segmentation data
The existing integration with HotelKey PMS has been enhanced to now pull in market segmentation data. New fields being imported include Statistics by Market Segment and Revenue Per Market Segment. This data is now visible to users throughout the daily reports.
Looking Ahead
HIA’s next updates are planned for late 2025 and Spring/Summer 2026. These will include new and enhanced integrations, as well as rolling out an updated user interface to make HIA even more visual and user-friendly coming in 2026.
We’ll share more information on these updates as we get closer to the dates. Stay tuned and if in the meantime you have any suggestions for how we can continue to improve our product or streamline your user experience, please email us at support@hiasoftware.com. We take your suggestions very seriously! And thanks!
